Germany Trip - 2022
This is our first travel since the COVID-19 outbreaks.
We took a direct flight via Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Munich.
1st day (15/4)
We reached the Munich Airport in the early morning. Unfortunately found that our luggage is damaged. We made a report the Tracing Office. Hopefully, we can claim for the damages later.
After that, we took a train from the airport to the hotel. We reached Courtyard Frankfurt City Center quick early, but they manage to let us check-in. We had a nap before starting our journey.
We had our first lunch, Port Knuckle & Sausage at the Augustiner Klosterwirt Restaurant. The food is OK but the portion is too big for us.
Then we walk around the city to cover those attractions and go back to take an early nap as we still have the jet lag on the first day…
2nd day (16/4)
We traveled to Salzburg early morning. We got the Bayern Ticket for €34 for 2. Bayern Ticket is the cheapest option to travel to Salzburg and it can be used before 9am because today is Saturday (for weekdays, the journey can be only started after 9am)
We visited the Marble Palace and the garden.
Few flower trees in front of the Palace had caught our attention.
The garden is the place where the movie, Sound of Music was filmed.
Then we visited Mozart's Residence and his birthplace.
Mozart's Father & Mother
Mozart's Sister
Mozart's Wife
It was raining in the afternoon,
We just took a simple sausage burger and checked in at the Holiday Inn Salzburg hotel.
We had a simple dinner (Seafood noodles from Mr. Wen's store) before heading to Fortress for the concert. We took a cable car up to the fortress as it was included in our ticket for the concert.
3rd day (17/4)
We got the Bayern Ticket for €34 for 2.
Take bus 840 Berchtesgaden, due to the weekend, the bus start operating only @ 9:15am. We had waited for an hour because we didn't know about this.
After arrival at the train station, we took bus 842 (can also take bus 841 which is slightly faster) to Lake Kognisee. The fee is €20 per person.
We took bus 841 to the central station and took bus 840 to the Salt Mine.
We missed the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine. The ticket was sold out upon arrival. We should book the ticket online.
4th day (18/4)
Today will be more relaxed as we were following the tour to Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castle.
We visited the Linderhof Palace, an ornate palace in neo-French Rococo style, with handsome formal gardens in the morning. It was built by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria, and completed in 1878. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by him and the only one which he lived to see completed.
On our way to Neuschwanstein Castle, we visit a small town called Oberammergau.
Then, we moved to Neuschwanstein castle. We had our lunch at Restaurant Hotel Hoswengu
After lunch, we climb up the hill for about 30 minutes to reach the castle.
The castle was not completed when Ludwig II die and it was taken over by his uncle.
Ludwig II is the 2nd name that caught my attention.
He was the king of Bavaria from 1864 until his death in 1886. He was the grandson of Ludwig I and the eldest son of Maximillian II. He was born at Nymphenburg Palace and ascended to the throne in 1864 at the age of 18.
Walk down for another 20 minutes
5th Day (19/04)
Nymphenburg Palace
6th Day (20/04)
We bought the Bayern Pass again for today.
We travel to Ingolstadt and take a bus to Ingolstadt Village. It is not so convenient to travel there (maybe should consider taking the shuttle bus there even though it is slightly expensive)
A lot of outlet stores there, but we only manage to buy 2 pairs of shoes due to time limitations.
The to/fro journey took us about 4 hours as the frequency of the bus was less during the winter season.
This marked the last day in Munich. We move to our 2nd destination, Nurnberg.
Upon arrival at Nurnberg, we went for laundry. The laundry is a bit far from the train station. While waiting for our laundry, we checked in Sheraton Calton Hotel. After checking in, we went back to continue drying and collecting our laundry.
7th Day (21/04)
Regensburg
8th Day (22/04)
Wurzburg.
Visted the Residence Palace. it is a UNESCO heritage site.
9th Day (23/04)
Rothenburg de Tauber
10th Day (24/04)
It was a rainy day.
Bamberg
Kristall Palm Beach.
The entrance fee is €24.90 per pax. Besides, we need to pay €3 per pax and €5 per pax for rental of towel and ropes. It was big, but very crowded. Maybe it is because of Sunday and there are many families there to enjoy the water park. The sauna area was a mixed area where men and women need to be naked at the sauna area. However, we can cover ourselves when traveling from one sauna to another sauna. There are outside and inside saunas.
11th Day (25/04)
Nurnberg
12th Day (26/04)
Shopping
13th Day (27/04)
Weisbaden
14th Day (28/04)
We bought a 2 day RMV pass @ €52. ( RMV pass can only bought at tourist Information counter not normal ticket machine)
We departed a bit a late and we are not manage to on board the river cruise at 11am at Rudesheim. However, I changed my plan last minutes, instead of going down at Rudesheim, we went down at Assmannshausen and we manage to catch the same cruise (next cruise is at 1pm and only end at Bacharach, not at St Goar as what have planned). We bought the ticket for €40 for 2 (actually we can get 20% discount with the RMV pass but I forgot to show them)
The winding river valley with its legendary Lorelei rock, terraced vineyards, picturesque towns with half-timbered houses, and countless castles make the Middle Rhine Valley a unique cultural landscape that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002.
15th Day (29/04)
Today we traveled to Bad Hamburg.
We visited Roman Kastell. This is another UNESCO Heritage site.
By taking the same bus, we can go to our next destination - Hessen Park Open Air Museum
But unfortunately the bus no. 5 only go to the hessen park on weekends. Hence, we have to go back to the train station and take the train RB15 to Wehrheim Station and then took bus no. 63 to Hessen Park.
The museums display traditional buildings from various regions around the state of Hesse. Due to time limitation, we can only about an hour plus to quickly go through the houses and catch the 5:45pm back to Bad Homburg.
We have our dinner @ Aldof Wagner. One of the popular restaurants recommended by
A German that we met. We tried its famous Apple Wine, schinitzer and Pork Shoulder. But unfortunately, Port shoulder is not what we really like.
16th Day (30/04)
Today is our last day of travel.
It is a rainy day again. We cannot go to the travel attractions as plan…
So we switch our plan to do shopping first…
We went to C&A Store @ Konstawache.
(We bought a Single Day group ticket @ €17.20 so that we can travel to Konstawache and Airport)
We realiszed Konstawach is another shopping area where it is within walking distance to Haupwache (just like orchard and Somerset)
We have a quick lunch and check out hotel.
Then we visited Iron bridge. There was a firefighting exhibition there also…
Next we visited the Romer, Romerberg and Frankfurt Cathedral.
And do final shopping before departure to the airport. We did our tax refund at Global Blue @ Myzeil.
Around 7pm, we collected our luggage and travel to the airport via S8.
As per instruction give, we have to inform the Airline staff that we have a luggage need to be verified by the customs before check in.
We brought the luggage to the custom officer to stamp on the receipts. The custom office requested us to put the luggage there and they will help to check in. Once done, we drop the form opposite at the Global Blue box opposite the custom office officer.
Finally we have done all the tax refund stuff and boarding to our flight SQ325. This marked the end of our Germany trip….
